Is it okay to put up Christmas decorations right after Halloween? Fun debate. My opinion is no. Keep in mind Christmas is my favorite holiday but I think skipping Thanksgiving is a mistake.
My decorating strategy for Halloween is to decorate in a way that after Halloween is over I’ll still have some decorations I can keep up until after Thanksgiving. This is why I put up cornstalks, pumpkins, bale of hay, and orange lights.
I’ll put up a few minor Thanksgiving decorations like a flag, turkey window clings, and some small Fall-themed items. I don’t want to go too crazy because I like to immediately switch over to Christmas decor the day after Thanksgiving.
I will say that I think it’s a smart decorating strategy to get all Christmas decorations ready before Thanksgiving and even to start putting some of them up. For example, I may hang my Christmas LED light-ups in the windows before Thanksgiving.
I won’t start turning them on at night until after Thanksgiving. I like to have all of my Christmas decorating done by December 1st so I can enjoy them for the entire month.
With that being said, if you want to put up Christmas decorations the day after Halloween go for it. I’ll never criticize anyone for decorating. Do what makes you happy.
