I’ve been selling holiday decorations for around 2 years now. It’s mostly been something I did as a hobby that just happened to make me money but since I sold my e-commerce business I decided to step it up. I made a goal that I’d like to have an eBay store with 1,000 listings and see what happens.
I also list on Facebook Marketplace and Mercari but most of the stuff I sell does best on eBay. Most of the decorations I sell are used, but I buy some new things that I know are hard to get and will sell for a higher price than I paid. I get most of my used decorations from auctions as of right now.
I’m up to 111 listings as of this writing. Over the last 7 days, I’ve sold 8 items on eBay and for most of the last 7 days, I’ve had around 80~ listings. So I’m trending at slightly more than 1 sale per day which I’m pleased about considering most of the decorations I’m selling are for Halloween and Christmas.
As of right now, I don’t think I’d want to be selling and shipping out more than 10 – 15 orders per day. I have my cousin helping me already and I want to keep this a fun thing that I do. I think 10 – 15 orders per day would be the right combination of scale, profitability, and fun for what I’m trying to do.
